KINTSUGI WORKSHOPS AT JAPAN HOUSE

If you’ve got some broken ceramics at home, learn how to fix them the Japanese way with these kintsugi workshops at Japan House. Led by Nishikawa Iku from Kintsugi Oxford, these workshops focus on the Japanese repair technique of kintsugi, which translates to ‘joining with gold’, where Japanese lacquer is dusted with powdered gold and used to restore broken ceramics. Not only is kintsugi about repairing something that’s broken, it’s about finding beauty in flaws, and now you can learn the craft yourself. At the sessions you’ll piece together a broken plate using kintsugi, which you’ll be able to take away with you, along with the knowledge of how to make more kintsugi pieces at home.
