KING’S HOUSE PUB TO OPEN IN CHELSEA WITH A BRITISH-BASQUE MENU

London has always had a good pub game but with the likes of The Baring, The Pelican and The Tamil Prince opening recently, the level of food found in pubs is defo on the up, and that’s continuing with new Chelsea spot King’s House. Opening on The Jam Tree site, formerly owned by Ashley Letchford, Letchford’s now revamping the space with the help of City Pub Group’s Clive Watson. The pub will still boast a huge outdoor space, with a black painted bar, red banquette seating, pale walls and dark wooden flooring in the downstairs bar and restaurant, and a more intimate dining room upstairs.

MasterChef winner Dhruv Baker is overseeing the food menu, which is blending British and Basque flavours inspired by his time cooking in Pamplona. You can expect dishes like:

  • 90-day aged Txuleton steak cooked over fire
  • whole grilled fish with butter beans & chorizo
  • ex-dairy steak tartare
  • charred leeks with romesco
  • Toulouse cassoulet
  • British charcuterie

There’ll also be Spanish-influenced bar snacks, weekend brunch and a Sunday roast making an appearance. Drinks queen Anna Sebastian is taking care of the bevs, which’ll include twists on the Aperol spritz (with apple gin, fig & cava) and sangria (with French rosé and orange & red wine blend), Spanish beers, and plenty of Spanish and French wines. Sounds like we’re about to get another cracking new pub.
