the ‘Graffiti Wars’ documentary shown on channel four the other week street art is fast becoming the ‘in thing’. Just the other day we passed a statement on Essex Road reading ‘I don’t want to be Banksy and more, I want to be King Robbo’. Well the graffiti street artist known as King Robbo is in a coma after falling from a ladder and hitting his head (apparently – there have been many conflicting reports).

Robbo’s family which includes his small child are struggling to pay his medical bills, and so an event is underway to help raise funds with pieces from Goldie, Team Robbo, Kid Acne and Blek Le Rat for sale. There will be DJs, a BBQ and live graffiti art to keep everyone entertained. Even if you can’t afford to buy anything, the works of art on display are wildly entertaining. For more info on Robbo and to help raise money see the Team Robbo website.

Tickets have sold out however there will be a small number available on the door before 1pm so arrive early if you’re wanting to get in, there’s a £5 minimun donation, with under 12’s free between 1pm and 6pm. All proceeds go to the Robbo Fund.
