Kensington & Chelsea Art Week is back as part of the summer-long Kensington & Chelsea Festival. Not only is it celebrating the borough as a cultural hotspot and opening the doors to local creative spaces, but it’s also giving greater visibility to locally-based creative talent. It’ll include installations, exhibits, murals, walking tours, events and talks taking residence across iconic sites including Napoleon Garden in Holland Park, Sloane Square and Chelsea Physic Garden. And because this year’s theme is Nourishment, expect to see high street retail spaces transformed into pop-up art galleries that function to further the work of young artists; a live painting of the Freston Road Mural focused on the notion of ‘rest’; and a large, blooming installation at Brompton Cemetary built out of non-recyclable straws collected by the artist, Lise Bouissiere. With over 150 venues getting involved, it’s gonna be a big one.
