Mortimer House has tapped Phil Juma of JUMA Kitchen as the next chef to take part in their guest chef series. The one-off menu will be a culinary exploration of Baghdad, inspired by Juma’s recent trip to his father’s home country Iraq. There’ll be both meat and vegan menus and plenty of tanoor bread, which is handmade at his newly opened bakery in Borough Market. Expect the likes of hummus topped with lamb shoulder; baba ganoush with fresh pomegranate; kubba hamuth (beef and lamb dumplings in a tomato broth with fermented turnip and mint sauce); and knafa (baked cream and cheese topped with katifi pastry, sugar syrup, pistachio and rose) for dessert.
Tickets are £35 for the vegan menu and £40 for the meat menu and also give you access to Mortimer House’s new rooftop bar, which is usually only open to members, for a pre-dinner aperitif while overlooking Fitzrovia.
