Jolene, the Newington Green bakery-restaurant-wine bar run by the team behind Westerns Laundry and Primeur, is opening a second site, Big Jolene Bakery aka Big Jo, in Hornsey. The team have taken over an old refrigeration and air con shop and are turning it into a bigger version of the OG Jolene. Opening in September, Big Jo will have flour mills, pizza and bread ovens as well as space to focus on sustainable, healthy grain growing systems.
As well all the baked goods, including pizzas and breads, we’re expecting the 60-cover restaurant to serve up a similar daily changing, European-inspired evening menu and more natural wine. Big Jo will also have a shop space, and there was talk of potentially moving a florist in there too, so watch this space.
