Joining the CULt (Beauty)

Shoreditch has a new salon on the block and it’s a slick one. CULt Hairdressing, tucked inside the Fruit & Wool Exchange just by Spitalfields, is the latest project from award-winning stylist and educator Brett MacDonald. With over 25 years in the industry (including Fashion Week creds), Brett has created a space that’s as much about switching off as it is about great hair.

Think natural light pouring in through floor-to-ceiling windows, head massages, bespoke rituals tailored to your hair, and stylists who actually take the time to talk through what’ll work for you. Oh, and there’s a complimentary drinks menu if you fancy bubbles, plus you can order in from Salad Project too. Bliss.

We went down to check out the new spot and scratch our mid (hair) life crisis. For the first time in over a decade, we ditched our shoulder-length hair and went for a lob (that’s a long bob, for those not in the know). Pretty major, but Brett eased us in, tweaking the fringe so the change wasn’t too much of a shock.

The cut? Spot on. The blow-dry? Bouncy AF. Our new fave salon? Quite possibly. And the best bit – it’s open weekends too, from 8am on Saturday and Sunday. Hair of the dog? Nah, hair of the CULt.
