Jason Atherton is expanding his Social Company empire by opening Harrods Social, which, you guessed it, will be located inside the famous department store. The restaurant will be on the lower ground floor and it’ll look very Harrods with lots of brass fixtures, marble tabletops and leather booths. The menu will be a celebration of the best of British produce, with dishes like Cumbrian beef tartare with sourdough crouton & goat’s curd; Wye Valley Asparagus with wild garlic, confit egg yolk jam & morels; whole Cornish lobster with champagne risotto & shellfish velouté; roasted Cumbrian rack of lamb & shepherd’s pie with asparagus, broad bean & peas; A5 Wagyu club sandwich with wasabi mayo & triple cooked chips; and Tahitian vanilla creme brulee with wild strawberry & champagne.
That’ll be served alongside a short list of classic cocktails and wine, and if you see something you like in the Harrods wine shop, you can buy it to drink in at Harrods Social. The restaurant is being billed as ‘relaxed yet elegant’ but with lobster, champagne and wagyu on the menu, it’s certainly not going to be cheap.
