Jake’s Vegan Steaks is the latest trader to go from street food to permanent restaurant with a new site on Holloway Road. Their plant-based Philly Cheezesteak – BBQ seitan ‘steak’, cheeze whizz, caramelised onions, roasted peppers, sriracha ‘mayo’ and sweet mustard on a sub roll – is still the signature sarnie, with hot and mushroom versions also available, along with the cheezesteak, gravy, truffle and thyme fries options.
The shop will also be serving up new weekend-only dishes including the Naughty Fry Up (with shredded BBQ seitan, hash browns, thyme fries, caramelised onions, peppers, cheezy beans and brown sauce) and the Breakfast Sarnie (essentially the fry up in a sub roll). And if you fancy eating in rather than getting the cheezesteak to takeaway, you can order the menu in The Horatia pub right next door.
