Jackson Boxer is getting ready to open his next London restaurant
And this time he’s taking over a prime corner in Exmouth Market. Vesper lands in the old Taqueria site this May, following the success of Dove in Notting Hill, which has been drawing serious crowds since opening at the start of 2025.
Named after the Roman word for the evening star, Vesper is Boxer’s take on a restaurant that reflects London itself. Cosmopolitan and produce-led, if Dove hit that sweet spot between luxury and accessibility, Vesper is set to build on that same energy, just with a new setting and identity.
The 70-cover site has timber-framed windows wrapping around the corner, a relaxed bar up front, and a candlelit dining room tucked behind. There’s also a terrace for outdoor tables, which will no doubt be in high demand once the weather plays ball.
On the food side, the menu mixes snacks, small plates and larger dishes, with Boxer’s signature mix of British produce and global influence running throughout. You’ve got things like oysters with green apple and chartreuse, raw beef tostadas, and sole fritters with curry sauce sitting alongside chicken liver agnolotti, pea and mint gnudi, and Dorset clams with black beans and white pepper. Bigger plates include glazed lamb shoulder with merguez and devilled kidney, roast chicken with bread sauce and salted lemon, and grilled gurnard with crab butter.
Desserts keep things just as considered, from canelés with milk and rum to chocolate porter cake and coconut with pineapple and grapefruit.
To drink, expect tight, well-made cocktails served cold and strong, plus a wine list that keeps things approachable but with a few serious bottles at the top end.
Boxer has built a strong track record across Brunswick House, Orasay and now Dove, and Vesper looks like the next step in that evolution. If it lands right, Exmouth Market could have one of its most exciting openings of the year on its hands.
Vesper will be open for dinner Tuesday to Saturday, with lunch running Wednesday to Saturday from May.
