It’s all change in W11
After five years of running Orasay, which has a strong focus on fish and seafood, Jackson Boxer announced that he’s closing the Notting Hill restaurant as he’s struggling to make the economics of the operation work. As he wrote on Instagram, “Orasay was never a very lucrative business. We specialised in working with a fragile and elusive product with a minuscule shelf life that needs a great deal of labour to prepare….being unable to raise prices, and being unwilling to work with a cheaper and inferior product, we have decided to imagine a bold new future for ourselves in quite another direction.”
So while it’s farewell to Orasay, it’s also hello to Dove, the new concept that’ll be opening in its place in the new year. The menu will be made up of things that Jackson wants to cook and eat right now, such as:
- deep fried taleggio & truffle lasagna
- iced red shrimp with smoked chilli relish
- fried pizzette with burrata and ham
- lemon & ricotta dumplings with lobster cream and lime leaf
- roast cauliflower with pecan and mint
- pork & duck meatball
- steamed hake with grilled cabbage, capers and lemon
- fior di latte soft serve with extra virgin olive oil and caviar supplement
Like Jackson says, Dove is “not re-inventing the wheel, but re-inventing the restaurant for today’s economy”, and we have no doubt it’s going to be as popular as its predecessor. The final service at Orasay will be on New Year’s Eve, and you’ll just have a week to wait until Dove opens its doors in 2025.
