Now we’ll have two places to queue for bagels in London
A favourite of Londoners looking for a proper NYC-style bagel, It’s Bagels is expanding with a second site set to open in Notting Hill this August. Founded by photographer Dan Martensen, the concept landed its first bricks-and-mortar site last September in Primrose Hill and was an instant hit – it still regularly reels in queues. Now the team is meeting demand with It’s Bagels 2.0.
The new 500-square-foot location is on the corner of Westbrook Grove and will have space for 14 covers inside and 16 on the outdoor terrace. We can expect to see the same classic selection at the Notting Hill site: freshly baked housemade bagels with plain or flavoured ‘schmears’, smoked fish and deli salads, as well as hot and cold drinks.
There’ll also be a range of bagel sandwiches – including some options that started as one-off collaborations – such as:
- The Works: with cream cheese, lox, onion, capers, lemon and tomato
- BEC: with bacon, egg and cheese
- Salt Beef Bagel: with pulled salt beef, French’s mustard, house pickles, shaved red onion, kewpie mayo and melted Swiss cheese (originally a collaboration with Secret Sandwich Shop)
- The Grinder: with mortadella, salami, turkey, provolone and spicy iceberg slaw (which was thought up by Jesse Jenkins aka ADIP)

About the upcoming launch, Dan said: “When we opened last year, we could only hope for a positive response. We knew we loved the product, but to see London embrace us, has been truly amazing. We could not be more excited to open a second location in Notting Hill, a neighbourhood we love.” We expect West London-based bagel fans will be just as excited.
