IT’S BAGELS HAS LANDED A PERMANENT SITE

The NYC-style bagel brand is getting its first bricks and mortar site in September

It’s Bagels was co-founded by photographer Dan Martensen and baker Jack Ponting in response to the lack of good bagels in the city. As a New Yorker, Martensen was used to an almost daily freshly baked bagel, but after moving here in 2019, found that wasn’t the case for Londoners – we’re really missing out. So he partnered with Ponting to launch It’s Bagels, filling the city’s bagel-shaped hole.

Until now, It’s Bagels has been running out of the Caravan Roastery (Ponting was previously head baker and pastry chef for Caravan restaurants), serving up properly chewy bagels with schmear. They’ve also been sending their bagels out for home deliveries every Sunday, but for the moment both of these operations have paused.

Their new permanent site will be in Primrose Hill where you can expect to find a range of plain, everything, poppy, sesame, garlic and onion bagels, all baked daily on-site. You’ll have the choice to smear your bagel with various schmears, or opt for something from the new selection of smoked fish and deli salads. The bagels will be available to take away, but the space (which has been inspired by classic New York bagel spots) will also have indoor and outdoor seating so bagel fans can dine in or eat al fresco.
