this year, Turkish mill ISKO provided the London College of Fashion with reels of denim as part of a special collaboration. The pioneering mill is always pushing the boundaries outside of their traditional market.

Creative Director at the School of Design & Technology, Rob Phillips worked together with ISKO and the students at LCF to push the boundaries of the fabric and showcase the endless possibilities. The creative results produced innovative and original pieces of high-street fashion, ready-to-wear and bespoke couture.

The LCF students took on the denim in an inspirational way and focused heavily distressing the fabric using traditional techniques such as shredding, fraying, perforating and bleaching. Many created oversized peacoats, and added contemporary darting and fraying to bring the classic piece to the modern market.

Others took on the basic shape of the shirtdress and turned the prototype into avant garde pieces featuring heavily embellished studding, ombre fringing and luxury patchwork.

Our Favourite piece is from up and coming designer Boo Pala, with her cut out boxy shirt and abstract screen print. It’s such a shame these aren’t available to buy, but with so much talent coming direct from London, the next few years of British fashion look pretty promising.
