Tropical have returned, (Contrary to the title of their last album “I’m Leaving”) for a third serving of dystopian indietronica. “Crawl/On My Way” is the first of five vinyl offerings taken from the new album “Black Anything”.

The Album was recorded on five different continents and the songs will take you on that journey. If “Crystal Fighters” and “Fol Chen” ever had a musical love child “Crawl” would be that progeny. “Crawl” feels like an evolution, a revolution for the band powered by dark synths and distorted guitar, an untapped pool of opportunity that we haven’t heard before. Luke Smith’s production keeps the song lean and crawling around your head for days.

If “Crawl” is an evil twin “On My Way” is the syrupy sweet one. “On My Way” builds gently throughout with ghostly echoes and strings carried by and sparse beats to create a haunting relaxing atmosphere. Kristie croons “I’ll Never Fade Away” in the last verse and by the looks of it Is Tropical will not be fading away any time soon.

‘Crawl/On My Way ’released December 8TH from the album “Black Anything”.
