We caught up with Londoners Nick and Andrew, the guys behind website designmynight.com London’s first price comparison site for pubs, clubs and bars. The website is designed to help people plan a night out depending on budget – whether you want to splash the cash on cocktails or cheap pint in Piccadilly, the site can recommend where to visit.
US: How did the idea for designmynight come about?
NICK: The site was developed following a trip to New York during which the hotel concierge asked us how much they wanted to spend, when they asked where to go out. We had the lightbulb moment there and then! When we researched nightlife websites in London, we found a lack of price led sites, many were difficult to navigate, poorly designed and not very reliable. We wanted to create a beautiful and practical site with all the info you need to decide where to go out as well as have a really informative blog with lots of hints, tips and reviews.
US: You were voted “Best for web nightlife 2010” by The Independent, what’s in store for 2011?
NICK: We only launched August 2010 so this year is going to be big for us (we hope). We will be spreading the site to Camden and Islington, introducing some really cool new features to help our users design their perfect, price conscious nights out and working even closer with all the 650+ bars on our databse to ensure all of the information is up to date. By the end of 2011 we want people to head straight to our site when deciding where to go out in London.
US: Whats the best thing about Designmynight?
NICK: That’s a difficult one! Every feature, every click, every idea had been meticulously thought over before it went live on the site! However, it has to be our main USP of price comparison. To know how much you’re likely to spend before going out is a priceless tool nowadays, especially in London.
So there you have it – www.designmynight.com. Check it out people…..
