Somebody who may not have snuck on to the big ‘ones to watch’ list for this year is Actrese. We’re glad that the eagle eyed at LOTI has got music radars that can hear a blip of talent from miles away. We’re claiming her as our own! She’s mysterious, sounds sultry (and wise beyond her young years) and has delivered a tune that is short (2m 23s), yet manages to shape shift half way through.
Lola kicks off with an echoey, lo-fi vocal, that is joined by a slinky grooving bassline. They take a stroll together through sparse park until Mr Mournful Guitar pitches up. Then all of a sudden, bam! the sun breaks from the clouds, Monsieur 4/4 drum beat sidles up, and they all go off into the sunset, heading for that horizon.
Lola is a very accomplished tune. Actrese is a quiet talent that will no doubt become LOUD in the coming year.
