home to Haggis, the castle, lots of Scots and three Ibis hotels. That’s right 3. We took a recent trip to explore the hotels and check out how they compared, not to their competitors but to each other…

Ibis Budget

IBIII

The clue is in the name, this one is the cheapest of the lot. Located close to Edinburgh Business Park it’s pretty new too with 161 simple rooms. Each room comes with flat screen TV and an en-suite. Whilst these are OK for the odd night or two, they did remind us of a hostel – some rooms can fit three, hair dryers and irons require a trip to reception and a deposit – but the clue’s in the name. There’s free Wi-Fi, it’s 10 miles from the airport so good for early flights and it’s 5 minutes from a tram stop that will take you to town. On a budget? In town for one night to see a band? This is the one for you.

Ibis Edinburgh Centre South Bridge

IBIZZ

Set in the heart of the old town, this one is the BIGGIE. There’s no less than 259 rooms in this place set over 6 floors. WOWZA It has amazing views of the city and is just a short walk to the castle – a site you should be sure to visit, especially if it’s your first time that far North. It’s also right near to the Vaults, the most haunted place in Edinburgh and also a must visit…if you dare. Rooms are a good size, all with ensuite and there’s ironing rooms on most floors. The bar and restaurant have modern decor and it’s 24 hour room service, that you can eat in your Sweet Bed by ibis™, no that’s actually the name of the beds designed to deliver the ultimate happy sleep. And snooze…

Ibis Styles Edinburgh Centre St Andrew Square

ROOM

The smallest and sexiest of the lot, Ibis style is in the heart of the new town overlooking Harvey Nics. Can you spot that red coat you wanted from the window? We think not. The rooms are the biggest of the lot too and there’s 103 up for grabs, each with quirky art work inspired by Scotland in the rooms and bathrooms. It’s a little bit hip if you will, including the bright, modern public spaces. There’s a bar and restaurant, room service too and just outside you can hop on the Big Red tourist bus – all aboard.

Going to Edinburgh? Then enter the Ibis…well one of them at least!
