We Devin. Here’s how it went…
caught up with the new kid on the 50’s guitar bands blockUS: Tell us about your sound & influences?
DEVIN: I love Iggy Pop, Johnny Thunders, Suicide. I like how they went back to early 50’s rock n roll and each came out with such new and unique sound. I like the idea of working in a context, at least for myself, so I remember what I’m trying to do. It keeps you on point.
US: How did you first get in to music?
DEVIN: The first time I attempted or had the initial thought to write a good song was after I saw a live performance of Iggy Pop doing the Passenger on Youtube. I had heard the song so many times and just thought it was boring – I didn’t get it, until I saw it.
US: What do you think makes a good pop song?
DEVIN: A pop song has to be catchy. I think the power of pop is that you can have the song stuck in your head despite the fact that you absolutely hate it.
US: What have you got coming up in the next few months
DEVIN: I’ve only heard my schedule through may, but that includes dates around the UK, through Western Europe and Australia.
US: Are there any bands around at the moment that get you excited?
DEVIN: I’ve always loved the So So Glos, they have an unbelievable energy live.
US: When in London, where would you go for a pint?
DEVIN: I’ve only spent 3 days in London so far, so with that limited; knowledge I would say The Shacklewell Arms.
