Just
around about a month ago, at the twilight of summer and the dawn of autumn, Finsbury Park heralded the end of the Festival Season with an electronic Ceremony fit for all us electronic dancing pearly Kings and Queens. The park transformed itself into a seven stage arena which saw a tribe of music makers marking their territories with beats and bass reverberating around the north London iconic hot spot until the tribe then trekked on to the after party at London’s Egg Club. Found Series triumphed with their biggest and most ambitious event to date and are continuing to prove themselves to be world class party planning extraordinaires. The wealth of talent and diversity of the artists on offer throughout the day was curated with skill and flair, with the main stage seeing the likes of Kidnap Kid, the Adana Twins, Route 94, Claptone with a Chicago house climax courtesy of the legends that are Lil Louis and Louie Vega.
We grabbed Hamburg House veterans, the Adana Twins, after the event for a quick interview to pick their thoughts on how we do EDM in the UK’s capital city…
What have been your influences since you started out in the music biz?
Friso: I grew up with house and techno music from a very young age. During this time Daft Punk’s “Homework” was THE inspiration, I loved how they combine all these different worlds, from house to techno.
Take it Easy: I come from a small town in Germany called Celle. It was all about Hip-Hop music there which meant I grew up with this sound and it definitely influenced me a lot. I still really love acts like Dilated Peoples, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common or Gangstarr. I first came in touch with the real electronic scene when I moved to Hamburg 12 Years ago and I instantly loved it, at this time acts like Boys Noize, Justice and Digitalism influenced me a lot.
How did you find the crowd in the main tent at Ceremony and how do you find the London scene generally?
London is always great. We were lucky that the tent was filling with people when we started to play and the crowd was just fantastic – we had so much fun. Regarding the After Party: One twin was in bed, the other one was on fire and made a little private after party in his hotel room with Hodgson and Frankie J Dickens. Sometimes you only need your boys, an iPod and some beers to do the best after session. As we have not been to all big clubs in London we can’t say which one is the best. But our gigs at the Egg were always nice and we really enjoyed playing there.
Out of the worldwide festivals, Ultra, Burning Man, Tomorrowland, Electric Daisy Carnival, ADE, etc, which ones would you say are the most exciting in terms of electronic music.
Your last EP Drive was released back in March this year, any plans to release a new EP soon?
Not this year, but we have some nice things coming up in 2015, including some fresh remixes so stay tuned!
You’ve also just finished a documentary of your recent tour around Brazil , which looks pretty hectic, can you give us a bit of info about who it?
Yes, we didn’t have much sleep during that week. It was pretty hectic but we played some really nice shows including our 6 hour set at d.edge in Sao Paulo and the performance at the famous Warung club. Brazilians know how to party!
…Fear not though Found Fans, you don’t have to wait til next year’s festival season starts again, their next event sees them take over the Troxy on Commercial Road, where Maya Jane Cole and George Fitzgerald present a Halloween House Special…check out the link below for further deets…
