Back with their new single ‘Lose Your Mind’ the second track off their debut LP ‘Warm Nothing’ we talked to Nima Kazerouni from So Many Wizards last week to talk about his personal hell, album no. two and what his album of the year is. Here’s how it went…
US: Where are you and what have you/are you up to today?
SMW: Im in my cousin Sheila’s Cabin in Echo Park Hills getting ready for our show tonight w/ homeboys ALLAH LAS.
US: Tell us about your new single ‘Lose Your Mind’?
SMW: The song stems from all those years of anxiety/depression/OCD I experienced and just really learning to let go of everything. I created a personal hell for myself for so long and none of it mattered.
US: What does 2013 look like for you?
SMW: 2013 is going be very busy. We’ll be touring extensively (hopefully overseas) but for sure in the states while working on our new releases via split 7 inches, tapes, and the follow up sophomore release.
US: Is it too early to think 2nd LP, would the approach be different to the first?
SMW: It’s definitely not to early. We hope to release the follow up around March/April of next year. We’ve learned a lot from making the debut LP so we’ll definitely do things a little different. First and foremost we will be getting all band members and contributors in an isolated area together for a time until the album is finished vs doing it all over the place over a longer span of time which is what we did for the first LP.
US: What would be your record of the year and why?
SMW: Record of the year is BEACH HOUSE – BLOOM. Amazing front start to finish. On repeat.
US: What new music are you listening to at the moment?
SMW: We’re currently crushing on THE BABIES, GRASS WIDOW, GRIMES, FIDLAR, PURITY RING, ALLAH LAS, MAGIK ORCHIDS
