intoxicating video from beaty Heart’s Seafood track got us in the mood for Summer and the undeniably trippy video made our minds explode in colour. Just who do they think they are…we asked them a few questions about all this psychedelic summer haze they are putting us under…not that we’re complaining mind.

Where are you, what have you been doing to do today?

Long ass shift at the seafood restaurant that I work at.

How did you get together as a band?

We all went to school together in Kent and sporadically played music together growing up, but when we moved to London to study we decided to form this band.

We had a Sunday lunch like the one in your video at our nan’s once when we were on acid, do you have many feasts like this?

That sounds like a pretty crazy lunch. I wouldn’t dare take acid at my nans house, mainly because there’s tons of other elderly people that live in the same building and I imagine seeing a bunch of old people would weird me out and I would probably have a bad time. Having said that, one time back at school we went round to my grans one night when she was away and got pretty stoned. We got really hungry but there wasn’t much food in the house, but we found a couple of cans of oxtail soup and spaghetti and washed it down with some Creme de Menthe that was in the cupboard. It was the best meal ever, but the next morning we woke up and saw on the tins that the food we ate went past its sell by date in 1991, so we didn’t feel too great for the following few days.

The idea was taken from the food fight scene in the film Hook right?

I’m pretty sure we talked about that time when we were making the video, but primarily the inspiration came from the movie, Hook. Robin Williams films in general were a big influence on the narrative of the video. Feels like maybe Robin Williams is the human embodiment of the idea of reconnecting with your childhood but being totally creepy about it at the same time? We had this whole Jumanji scene that was going to be incorporated into the video, we made a huge board game out of papier mache, but we never got round to filming it in the end.

So you’ve got a few shows coming up including your single launch….any surprises in store?
I bloody hope so otherwise it will be crap.

So….what’s coming up in the rest of the year for you lot?

We’re touring the UK from the 9th to the 13th of April: London, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Bristol, which will be sweet. We’re off to New York in May to play some shows out there, and most importantly, our first full length album will be out (hopefully) before the end of the year.

Any new bands that you are listening to at the moment that are impressing you?

We’re all loving Jagwar Ma at the moment, don’t know how new they actually are, but they’re new to us! Flamingods, Snakehips and Fun Adults are all awesome too!

Tour dates are as follows

April 9th Single Launch Party @ White Heat, London
April 10th Nation of Shopkeepers, Leeds
April 11th Trof Fallowfield, Manchester
April 12th The Shipping Forecast, Liverpool
April 13th Start The Bus, Bristol
