Everyone has a version of London they’d recognise from a single frame. The view from the top deck on the way home. The corner shop. The bit of the canal where you always stop. For this masterclass, you pick a photo of yours, send it over to be printed ahead of the session, and spend the afternoon turning it into something worth putting on a wall (or trying to at least!). All for just over £20!
The technique is oil pastel transfer, then watercolour on top for colour. It sounds more advanced than it is: you’ll be working over tracing paper, which is what makes the whole thing beginner-friendly. If you haven’t painted since school, this is built for you. If you have, there’s enough skills needed to keep you interested.
It’s hosted at Imperfect Art in Copeland Park, the Peckham studio from Linda Savinova-Burrow, who started the business after burning out in strategy consulting and deciding that adults needed somewhere to make things badly and enjoy it. The Islington studio opened in March 2025 and Peckham followed. The same rules apply at both: no pressure, no critique, happy accidents very much encouraged.
