Tucked away towards the edge of the buzzing food and drink hub that is Brixton Village, if you look hard enough you will find the modestly sized pop-up chocolate shop from award-winning chef, Paul Wayne Gregory.
Asa space, the newly opened ‘Indulgence’ shop might not be much to look at, but the selection of boutique-style chocolates on display certainly are. An array of small and prettily packaged truffles, pralines, choccy lollies and bars not only look the part, they taste pretty good too. Gregory is an ardent chocolate lover and Indulgence is his first shop venture. He selects his ingredients carefully and almost scientifically to ensure that the flavours are just right.
A pain-staking amount of work goes into the chocolate-making process; his ‘Pure Indulgence’ box took five years to develop and create. The hard work certainly paid off though, each of the twelve individually flavoured bars has won an award in its own right and the chocolate is subtle, rich and velvety. The shop and dessert bar also offers bespoke chocolate artistry and some of Gregory’s creative designs are impressively displayed. In amongst the gooey, sweet flavours of Indulgence’s chocolates, you can also taste the passion of Gregory for his craft and it makes the chocolate taste even better.
