Independent Venue Week is Back for 2024

The UK’s celebration of independent and grassroots music venues returns

Following its tenth anniversary edition in 2023, which the Music Venue Trust called the “worst year for venue closures” according to NME, Independent Venue Week is back for 2024 to highlight the importance of grassroots venues across the country – without them, we’d miss epic moments like these ones.

Hundreds of shows will be taking place at over 200 spaces all over the UK, with the likes of Circa Waves, Ash, Hind, Saint Agnes, 86TVs, This Is The Kit, Nell Mescal, Yaki Dah, Margaret Glaspy, Allison Russell, and The Snuts performing along with IVW ambassadors English Teacher, Brooke Combe and Lemfreck.

Huw Stephens and Steve Lamacq is also hosting a series of IVW shows on BBC 6 Music, broadcasting from a different venue on each weekday, featuring performances from Ash (at Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast), 86TVs (at Whistle Binkies in Edinburgh), NewDad (at The Fulford Arms in York), English Teacher (at Polar Bear Music Club in Hull) and Antony Szmierek (at The Rockin’ Chair in Wrexham) – sadly none of these will be in London but you can catch all the chat and the live sets on the radio.
