IN THE BLACK FANTASTIC AT THE SOUTHBANK CENTRE

This summer, the Southbank Centre is celebrating Black art and culture with its series of multi-artform events, In the Black Fantastic. It all kicks off in June with two sound installations – Peter Adjaye’s Music for Architecture and Dubmorphology’s Emergence, by Gary Stewart and Trevor Mathison – and a display of free outdoor works by acclaimed artists including Hew Locke, Wangechi Mutu and Lina Iris Viktor. Then in July, a three-day weekender will see a series of events from poetry and music to films and discussions held at the Southbank Centre. And to wrap up in September, writers Courttia Newland and Michael Salu will discuss the influence of the fantastical in their work, inspired by the Hayward Gallery’s In the Black Fantastic exhibition. That’s not all, there are many more events across the arts scheduled (lots of which will be free to attend) so check out the full listing here and start marking your diaries.
