IKEA IS TAKING OVER THE BIG TOPSHOP ON OXFORD STREET

Ever since the big Topshop closed its doors for good there have been rumors swirling about who or what was going to move into the mammoth space. Now it’s been confirmed that flatpack furniture and Swedish meatball master IKEA will be the new resident, after a paying £378 million for the shop. At 239,000 sq ft, it’s gonna be smaller than some of the other UK stores but it’ll still have room for around 5000 products, including furniture (which’ll be fun to try and get on the tube, although home delivery will also be available), home accessories, soft furnishings and other smaller items.

There’ll also be room for a restaurant so you can load up on meatballs before doing the rounds, which frankly is the whole point of going to IKEA anyway. The new store won’t be ready until autumn 2023, so we’ve got a few years to prepare for how annoying Oxford Circus will be with loads of people swinging those massive blue bags around.
