During the pandemic, Hoxton-based catering company Humdingers launched a social enterprise, Humdingers Bakery & Soup Kitchen, to help feed the local community, and it was such a success that not only has it become a permanent arm of the business, founder Robert Hunningher has opened a second one in Hornsey. The new site, which has stripped-back but cosy interiors, is serving up freshly brewed coffee and baked goods as well as offering food like pasta bakes and soup with fresh bread to anyone in need of a hot meal.
And the Humdingers team isn’t stopping there; they’ve got a cafe and bakery on Old Street in the works and they’ll also soon be offering barista training for anyone aged between 16-21 who’s unemployed and wants to learn a new skill.
