Earlier this year, we wrote about the boom of Hong Kong-style dumplings in London and now it looks like there’s another spot to add to the list. Chinese chain, Dumpling Xi, is getting ready to open in the UK for the first time with a store on Shaftesbury Avenue.
This brand is absolutely MASSIVE. It started in Hegang in the north east of China in 2002 and now has over 900 stores worldwide. As well as sites across 40 cities in China, it’s expanded internationally with spots in New York and Barcelona. Dumpling Xi prides itself on the freshness of the dumplings – making everything fresh daily. The New York stores offer nine different varieties of dumplings, filled with ingredients like pork & celery, prawn & chive and curry chicken. On top of that, there are also soup pots on offer.
We don’t know the exact opening date yet and the brand is keeping it hush online. But one thing’s for sure: with Din Tai Fung opening its fifth London site in December, the capital’s dumpling obsession shows no sign of stopping.
