HOW TO CELEBRATE CINCO DE MAYO IN LONDON

We can’t really claim Cinco de Mayo as a big holiday over on our shores – it’s a Mexican anniversary that marks their victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862 and it’s become particularly popular in the States – but we’ll never turn down a chance to celebrate Mexican culture, tuck into great food and let the drinks flow. You could seek out some of the best margaritas in London or hit up the city’s best Mexican restaurants for the occasion or you could get involved in all these Cinco de Mayo events.

Temper

It’s Mexican specials, £5 margs and mariachi music at Temper Covent Garden this Cinco de Mayo. The restaurant will be decked out festival-style with pom pom streamers and paper flowers, and a mariachi band will be providing the party music. The Temper team has created five special dishes for the occasion, including crab & corn enchiladas, smoked brisket over chilaquiles and mole poblano with poussin, and their signature house margs will be a fiver all night long.
