When one pop-up closes another one opens, and that’s exactly what’s happening with Hot 4 U ahead of them opening a perm site at the end of 2022. After a yearlong takeover of the stoves at The Prince Arthur, the Hot 4 U crew is heading to another East London pub, The Haggerston, for their next act, and this time they’re doing beak – and yes we mean chicken. Running Thursday and Friday nights and throughout the day on the weekends, Hot 4 U Does Beak will serve up a beak-to-tail menu featuring dishes like BBQ chilli schmaltz oysters, devilled eggs, koji fried chicken, liver with skin & soldiers, Beak sarnies, chicken thigh & citrus kosho sticks, tsukune sticks, BBQ peas & salted duck egg, and potatoes with cod’s roe.
Hot 4 U founder Matthew Scott describes the pop-up, “Think Morley’s meets Yardbird with a focus on sustainability. We’re using dry aged Fosse chickens – every part of the bird will be used across the menu. There’s DJ’s at the weekend, outside bbq’s, in house fermentation and pickles, oysters by the dozen, and a weekly changing ice cream on Sunday.” With these lot in the kitchen, a late licence and a sun trap garden, it sounds like The Haggerston is gonna be the place to be this summer.
