horatio street social club to open

East London’s already got its fair share of basement cocktail bars but room has been found for another one, this time underneath The Nelson’s Head just off Columbia Road. Horatio Street Social Club is run by Simon Thompson and Jake O’Brien Murphy (who worked together at Callooh Calley, so that’s our expectations raised) and it’s all about good vibes and innovative drinks. As well as classic cocktails, beers and a wine list from War on Terroir, the house tipples will include the likes of Garfield’s Funeral (Lot 40, Angel Share Syrup, Black Trumpet Mushroom Tincture) and Dirty Faces (Beeswax, Calvados, Gin, Apricot, Verjus) and will change regularly, as will the artwork on the physical menu. HSSC is the first Social Club bar to open, with plans for more venues to follow…as it already sounds like a winner you can bet we’ll be keeping a close eye on this.
