Sven-Hanson Britt, who you may have seen on MasterChef The Professionals, and partners Tris Hillier and Scott Ward haven’t let lockdown get in the way of opening their new restaurant Homestead in London City Island. Currently, it’s running as a takeaway kitchen and deli, with meats, cheeses, fish, homemade pasta, coffee, wine and other ethically sourced produce available to buy.

The takeaway menu includes pies, salads, chicken kiev and banh mi sandwiches, and hot dishes like aubergine massaman curry and Cobble Lane chorizo & salami pizza. Homestead has also teamed up with Brewdog to open a mobile bar outside offering beers to go.

Once dine-in service is allowed again, Homestead will be open all day from breakfast through to dinner, with the charcoal grill forming a key part of the evening menu. The drinks list will feature wine from a lot of small growers and sustainable producers alongside craft beer and classic cocktails. Here’s hoping lockdown lifts in December so we can get in there.
