High-End Greek Restaurant GAIA is Coming to London from Dubai

With restaurants in Dubai, Doha and Monte Carlo, GAIA has its sights set on London

Considering that co-founders Evgeny Kuzin and Izu Ani have opened branches of their Greek restaurant GAIA in some big money cities, it’s not surprising that the pair have chosen Mayfair as the place for them to plant their flag in the capital. The 154-cover restaurant, opening on Dover Street in December, will look the part with domed ceilings, limestone walls, azure furnishings, Hellenic statues and an impressive fresh fish counter.

The seafood on the counter will be prepared in a variety of ways, including raw, grilled, salt-baked and pan-fried with harissa, with chefs Izu Ani and Orestis Kofetas taking inspiration from traditional Greek cuisine for the rest of the menu. that means dishes like:

  • taramosalata and melitzanosalata
  • kritharaki – orzo with tomato sauce, calamari, prawns and clams
  • paidakia arnisia – lamb cutlets with tzatziki and pita
  • pagoto giourti – frozen Greek yoghurt topped with chopped nuts and honey
  • ravani – coconut sponge cake with cream

Over at the bar, you’ll find cocktails inspired by the earth, sun and sea, in reference to GAIA’s namesake, the Greek goddess of Earth, including Theo (with olive oil-infused tequila, basil, bergamot and mastika) and Talos (with orange gin, beetroot and dry fig). With CLAP also coming over from the Middle East this winter, you’ll be able to get a taste of Dubai no plane ride required.
