High-End Chinese Restaurant 3 Gorges to Open in Fitzrovia

With a head chef coming from Gouqi

London isn’t short of places doing high-end Chinese cooking – there’s YauatchaPark Chinois, Hakkasan, MiMi Mei Fair, Canton Blue and Gouqi to name a few – and this February, 3 Gorges will be throwing its hat in the ring. The three-floor, 80-cover restaurant is being opened by Li Zhang, who also has Sichuan spot Sanxia Renjia (which has locations in Fitzrovia, Bromley and Kingston) to her name, and will focus on Hubei and Cantonese cuisine.

Chef Qian, one of the best regarded Cantonese chefs in the city (he was most recently head chef at Gouqi but has also spent time at Sino, helped launch MiMi Mei Fair and worked at Hakkasan Group for a decade), will be leading the 3 Gorges kitchen. His opening menu will include dishes like:

  • Three Coloured Xiaolongbao
  • Braised Seafood Soup
  • Dim Sum Trilogy
  • Mousse Scallops
  • Crispy Fried Oysters
  • Miso Spicy East Wind Snails
  • Peach Gum Duck Soup
  • Chrysanthemum Aubergine
  • Eight Treasure Gourd Duck
  • Spicy Beef Shank
  • Beijing Peking Duck (Crispy Skin)
  • Fragrant Dongpo Pork
  • Spicy Crispy Noodles with King Prawns

You’ll also be able to order dishes like abalone, lobster, starfish and the signature Three Ways of Eating Geoduck in advance. There’ll be a number of set menus to choose from at 3 Gorges, including a nine-course one (at £69 per person), a twelve-course one (at £89 per person), a twelve-course one plus a luxury main course (at £189 per person), and a twelve-course luxury menu, featuring the likes of Wine Sauce Spanish Red Prawns, Cheese Lobster, Black Truffle King Crab Noodles and Caviar Peking Duck (at £388 per person), so if you wanna really splash the cash, this might just be the place.
