Food poverty charity FoodCycle is launching a new initiative in Acton and is looking for volunteers to support their work
FoodCycle is a UK-wide charity that works to reduce food poverty, loneliness and food waste with regular community meals cooked using surplus ingredients. Here in London, free lunches and dinners are hosted weekly all over the city and now they’re launching a new project in Acton that will provide members of the Happy Baby Community (HPC) with a vegetarian meal that would otherwise have gone to waste.
The HBC is a support system for women who have fled from domestic violence or trafficking and who are pregnant or have a young child. Using produce supplied by local businesses, FoodCycle will be able to serve up nutritious, three-course lunches as well as provide a space where companionship among the members of the HBC can thrive.
The help of volunteers is crucial to keeping the free weekly meals up and running, so if you have time to spare, consider signing up to help with food collection, surplus food coordination, cooking, hosting and the general running of this project. Find out how you can get involved here.
