Hawksmoor St Pancras is coming this winter
After Victor Garvey suddenly shut up shop at the Midland Grand, we’ve been wondering who’ll step into the impressive space, and now we know that’ll it be Hawksmoor, taking the group’s total number of restaurants to 14. The dining room, in the Grade I-listed, Sir George Gilbert Scott-designed building, won’t change too much in terms of looks – as Hawksmoor co-founder Huw Gott said, “I’ve always loved working with incredible architectural heritage, and there are no finer buildings around”.
Hawksmoor St Pancras will feature 95 covers alongside a private dining room and a unique chef’s table, with all of Hawksmoor’s signature steaks, seafood and cocktails on the menu. Hopefully there’ll be some additional theatre and more tableside touches too. What was the Gothic Bar, with its stunning high ceilings, is also getting a revamp, becoming the Martini Bar, complete with an outdoor terrace and DJ stage. Enjoying one of the best martinis in the city is an excellent way to kill time before catching a train if you ask us.
Speaking about the new restaurant, Hawksmoor co-founder Will Beckett said: “There are very few buildings that Huw and I have always spoken about as dream Hawksmoors, and this is one. As we approach the 20th anniversary of our first Hawksmoor restaurant, it feels perfect to be able to bring everything we’ve learned in London and beyond back to one of the most dramatic and gorgeous buildings in our hometown. Hopefully London will continue to feel as proud of Hawksmoor as we have always felt of London.”
We think it’s an excellent move for the building and we have a feeling it’s going to be third time lucky for the space….
