British label Hackett previewed their Spring/Summer 14 collection by transforming Old Billingsgate Market into a sleek fashion house. The show which we attended was a blast…firstly, we were 2nd row…So we suppose that makes us B-List celebrities? And then true A-Lister Samuel L Jackson rocks up and sits in front of us, along side David Gandy and Oliver Cheshire.

As the lights dimed, the huge red curtain rose to reveal the London Philharmonic Orchestra, playing the theatrical ‘Prospero’s Magic’, a treat in itself, as the boys started to cascade down the catwalk.

A hugely wearable collection, unlike a lot of designers showing at London Collections: MEN. (Lace halter necks guys? Didn’t think so) Hackett took notes of gentlemanly sports with a touch of Gatsby. The Riviera style colour palette of creamy whites and sugar coated almonds, screamed summer and we particular loved the mint three-piece suit.

Lightweight tweeds, sailor stripes, dogtooth checks, printed silks and linens styled with boater hats and polka dot scarves wouldn’t go a miss rowing in Regent’s Park, or punting the rivers in Oxford.

Contemporary sports spring to mind when viewing the collection. Classic cricketing pieces blending so perfectly with the relaxed tuxedo jackets. The cheeky pinstripe number, monogrammed with ‘JH’ on the breast pocket is very Mr Ripley.

For those looking for something a little more dapper, that can cross from Spring to Late Autumn, head to Hackett, you won’t be disappointed. You suave bugger!
