Hacha, the agaveria run by Deano Moncrieffe and Emma Murphy, is one of our fave bars in Dalston and now the pair are expanding by opening a second bar in Brixton. The new two-floor spot will be larger, with a 50-cover bar and a Mirror Margarita shop selling Hacha’s signature drink where you’ll be able to try tasting flights of the bottled cocktails before you buy. The Mirror Marg will feature on the bar menu too alongside new serve La Bandera, three mini cocktails in the colours of the Mexican flag, and The Agave List, a rotating selection of 25 tequilas, mezcals and agave spirits. Hacha’s kitchen partner Maiz Azul will also be in the house serving up dishes like camote tacos, chicken tinga and cheese chicharron.
The Brixton bar will be doing more than just shaking up the bevs though as Deano will be running free community training and mentor ship days once a week in partnership with his not-for-profit organisation Equal Measures, which works with under-represented BAME communities within the hospitality industry.
