Glastonbury line-ups and headliners are always big news as festival season gets underway. It has recently been announced that Arctic Monkeys, Guns N’ Roses and Sir Elton John are set to step into the limelight on the pyramid stage on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights, respectively.
However, rock legends Slash and Axl Rose are not staying down on the farm too long. Instead, they are headed for London and will be rocking the Royal Park at the end of June. While Glastonbury tickets are as rare as hens’ teeth, packaged tickets are still available to see Guns N’ Roses play in London on June 30th.
Headlining BST Hyde Park
It is time to dust off your air guitar and dig out your stovepipe hat; Guns N’ Roses are top of the bill for American Express presents BST Hyde Park 2023. The classic line-up of Axl Rose, Slash and Duff McKagan will be performing together again.
The band have had their fallings out but is now back on the road together. Slash quit in 1996 over musical differences, but he and Axl Rose managed to patch up their personal tensions and now perform together. The band’s long-awaited reunion tour hit the road in 2016 with shows in Hollywood, Las Vegas and California’s Coachella Festival.
Sing along to their biggest hits
We can expect the band to play “Welcome to The Jungle”, “Paradise City”, and “Sweet Child O’ Mine”, which are all featured on their critically acclaimed debut album “Appetite for Destruction”. That album was the best-selling debut of all time in the US and is the basis of their monster success.
While these tracks came out in 1987, they have been passed down through the generations. In the mid-2000s, they were stand-out favourites on Guitar Hero – the attention-grabbing video game that came complete with fake guitar. Guitar Hero III even had Slash on the cover artwork. Fans have also been able to play along with the band on the official Guns N’ Roses online slot game. The NetEnt game, which can be found at a top-rated UK online casino like Casushi, features both visual iconography and a rocking soundtrack
Chart-topping stars
Guns N’ Roses are among the biggest names in rock music history and have sold over 100 million records worldwide. In 2012 they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Two of their albums went to the number one slot on the Billboard Charts, and four got into the top five. However, despite their success across the pond, they have never had a number-one single in the UK’s Official Charts. However, there is no denying that they have produced a string of monster hits and won AMA, Billboard and MTV awards.
BST Hyde Park’s tenth-anniversary line-up
As if Guns N’ Roses weren’t reason enough to get to Hyde Park this summer, the line-up for the rest of the events is immense. For its tenth anniversary, the acts who will take to the stage in Hyde Park this summer include:
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
Take That
Billy Joel
Black Pink
P!nk (with special guest Gwen Stefani)
The website says the full line-up is still to be announced, so keep your eyes peeled.
A truly memorable event in the heart of London
Unlike a traditional festival, BST Hyde Park takes place over several weekends. In 2022, after a two-year absence, there were three weekends of unforgettable performances. Sir Elton John brought his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour to the Royal Park. He wasn’t the only rock royalty amongst the star-studded performers, though.
The Rolling Stones performed two incredible sell-out concerts and paid an emotional tribute to the late Charlie Watts. Global megastar Adele came home to London and headlined two shows with all-female line-ups. One Sunday night, there was a definite American rock vibe when Eagles and Pearl Jam showed up in the park. Finally, last year’s festival was brought to a close by Britain’s best-loved new romantic giants, Duran Duran. They recreated a nostalgic 80s scene, delivering singalong smash hits and barn-storming anthems.
