We may have had a lack of sunshine in the UK this summer, but that isn’t stopping us Londoners from sitting on a terrace enjoying al fresco drinks. Why not transport yourself to the Med with a visit to the Greek restaurant Ampeli? Not only are they serving up tasty Grecian dishes, but they have also partnered with Greek amber spirit brand Metaxa for a cocktail takeover on their Charlotte Street terrace.
The drinks menu is a mix of summer spritz serves and takes on the classics, including Metaxa Negronis and Old Fashioneds. If you happen to visit when the sun is shining we’d recommend ordering the Mountain Tea Spritz, a twist on an Aperol Spritz, combining Metaxa, Aperol, mountain tea syrup and prosecco. Pair this with one of Ampeli’s barrel-aged feta and roasted pepper dips and you have yourself the perfect aperitivo hour combo.
Other highlights on the menu include the charred cauliflower topped with labneh, olive tapenade & pine nuts, and the Josper-grilled whole baby chicken with citrus curd & lemon thyme. These were served with a side of the extra crispy patates with citrus mayo & dill – a definite must order. Save room for the warm Loukoumades – cinnamon doughnuts topped with melted chocolate sauce, washed down with a Metaxa Old Fashioned.
