You know what it’s like, you wait for a new pizza place to open and then three spring up at once. Ok maybe you’ve never actually waited for that to happen but three new pizzerias have opened in town and all within a few weeks of each other, meaning these are the hottest joints to grab a pizz’a the action…
Gordos Pizzeria – this Dalston spot is run by Jesse Elias, formerly GM at Yard Sale in Clapton. Gordos is pretty traditional when it comes to the menu, serving up Neapolitan-style pizzas with toppings like ham & mushroom; olives, anchovies & capers; sausage & broccoli; and spicy salami & nduja. Drinks-wise it’s all about natural wine, unless you go for the sole lager on the menu.
Party Store Pizza – forget Naples, it’s all about Detriot at Party Store Pizza in Brixton, which specialises in deep-pan, rectangular, Detriot-style pies. The pizzas include the Top Boy (vodka sauce, mozzarella, ricotta, ‘nduja, pepperoni & honey), the Dirty South (pulled rib meat, pickled chillies, buffalo sauce & crispy onions), and the Smacks of Mac (ground beef, pickled gherkin, white onion & burger sauce), and they all have that chewy base and crispy crust.
Nebula Pizza – there’s another new pizza joint in Hackney in the shape of Nebula Pizza. As well as classic margherita and pepperoni pizzas, Nebula has toppings like chilli pickled pineapple, ham & tabasco sriracha and pancetta, cavolo nero & peas. They’ve also got ten beers on draught, wines from Renegade and a cocktail list including negronis, highballs and spritzes.
