GLADWIN BROTHERS TO OPEN THE FAT BADGER

A proper country pub is a thing of rarity these days, particularly in Central London. Well, alright, Richmond is more Zone 4 than Central but you get the idea. The Fat Badger, the brainchild of the Gladwin Brothers, will be their fifth restaurant (they also run The Shed in Notting Hill, Nutbourne in Battersea, Rabbit in Chelsea and Sussex in Soho) and will focus on the spoils of the English countryside and coast – think grilled meat and fish, locally sourced fresh vegetables and foraged herbs with lots of the ingredients coming from the Gladwin family farm.

British sharing specials will be scribbled on the blackboards each evening with hefty plates like whole steamed fish, ‘stargazy’ pie, and prime cuts of beef plus roasts on Sundays. And if you’re after a post-work pint or pre-theatre bite you can pull up a chair at the bar for dishes like Maldon oysters, local charcuterie, house pickles, cheese boards, crab crumpets and Welsh rarebit. And you can pair all that with pints of craft lager or a glass or two of the Gladwin family’s award-winning range of English wines.
