get that 70’s look | mens style

The 1970s remains a key source of style inspo always, so we’re rolling back the clock once again. This is a refined take on the decade though, so forget excessive ruffles and platform boots…it’s all about cleaner cuts, modern silhouettes and an earthy colour palette. Xander Zhou and Neil Barrett put their spin on sportswear, keeping it edgy with graphic block stripes. Wide collars were seen everywhere from Wales Bonner to Topman, as were wide-legged trousers, in reference to that seventies staple, flares. The boxy jacket, the other key shape, keeps this trend authentic yet contemporary…nobody could accuse the numbers shown at CMMN SWDN and Joseph of being anything other than cool.

HOW TO GET THE LOOK…

Roll necks provide an easy way to nod to the trend, and are a great base to build on if you want to go more retro…all you gotta do is add a collared shirt over the top. A great leather jacket is also a strong entry point, just keep it short. If you’re the more relaxed type, rock that tracksuit, but choose block colours over massive logos.
