GET READY TO ZIP WIRE THROUGH THE CITY

The team behind the London Landmarks Half Marathon are turning the City in to a climbing/abseiling/zip lining course next year as they introduce the London Landmarks Skyscraper Challenge. The event has been brought together by pregnancy charity Tommy’s, who are also responsible for the London Marathon and Nightrider, and sounds like it’s going to be hugely ambitious.

Set to take place over a weekend in September of next year, the all-new race will be a world first, giving contestants the chance to test their stamina in a course involving two iconic figures in the London skyline. The challenge will invite competitors to race to the 42nd floor of The Cheesgrater where they’ll then have the choice of abseiling back down – a 200m drop – or hopping on a zip wire across to The Gherkin.

To get involved, you need to land a place with one of the event’s charity partners to help hit the fundraising target of over £1 million. This is clearly not one for the faint of heart, but if you think you’ve got what it takes you can pre-register for the chance to take part yourself. Good luck!
