Tube strikes are set to continue as the dispute between the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union and Transport for London (TfL) over job cuts, poor working conditions and pensions remains unresolved. The recent waves of industrial action have been record-breaking and necessary protests against the government’s attempts to inhibit UK workers’ rights which are, unfortunately, ongoing. It’s also been noted that during transport strike action, the hospitality sector in particular takes a bit of a blow. So for the July tube strikes, support your local by booking in for dinner or go for one of the deals we’ve rounded up below – you can even rent a bike for a free trip over. And of course, take the time to head to your nearest picket line to show solidarity with the strikers.
Hawksmoor
Hawksmoor will be serving up steak & frites for £15 from Thursday 20th July until the end of the month (as well as on future strike days). They’re a big restaurant group, but Hawksmoor has said that this deal isn’t designed to make them a profit.
Seabird
Get a free oyster at Seabird, the rooftop restaurant at The Hoxton, Southwark, on strike days. Show them your Oyster card or this IG post to get yours.
Rondo
You can’t tap in on the tube but you can get a free glass of wine on tap from Rondo at The Hoxton, Holborn on strike days.
Bonus deal – get a free rental bike for the whole week courtesy of Swapfiets.
