Danny Trejo’s taco restaurant has just expanded its menu
After opening a London outpost of Trejo’s Tacos last year, Hollywood actor Danny Trejo (known for Machete, Spy Kids, From Dusk Till Dawn, and Heat) is now bringing us even more of his Cal-Mex cuisine with a load of brand new dishes and drinks. The Portobello Road restaurant has added 15 new dishes to its menu, including winter warmers and some plant-based options perfect for Veganuary, such as:
- young jackfruit taco with avocado crema, pico de gallo, verde slaw and tortilla trips
- fried chicken taco in a lettuce cup
- cheeseburger taco with nacho cheese, red onion, coriander, cherry tomato and bacon
- beef barbacoa, mushroom asada and spicy shrimp burritos
- chili con carne bowl with rice and cheese
- tortilla soup bowl with chicken, dried chile broth, avocado, corn, tortilla chips and cheese
The underground Machete Bar, a homage to one of Danny’s most iconic movies, has been revamped with work from west London artist Jose Rodriguez, alongside ten new additions to the cocktail menu. They include the Lavender Punch (made with dark rum, lime juice, cassis and lavender), the Cocoloco (with coconut tequila, cacao, lime and egg white) and the Gingersnap (with mezcal, ginger liqueur, chartreuse, lime and agave).
