Old Street boozer William IV has everything you could want from a gastropub – plenty of light coming in through the windows, original Georgian features, a curated collection of art on the walls, and a food menu that features the best peak-season ingredients.
Across both the downstairs pub space and the more intimate upstairs Dining Room, chef-owner Mike Harrington is showcasing his ingredient-led approach and the finest British produce with a new summer menu, inspired by sunny flavours and Mediterranean coasts. His dishes inlcude:
- caviar d’aubergine on toast
- English tomatoes with burrata, capers and pistou
- skate wing meunière with Koffmann’s fries and samphire
- English asparagus with tarragon & chervil sauce
- hand-dived Orkney scallops with garlic butter and bacon crumb
- roast pork shoulder with cider & mustard sauce
- Chalkstream rainbow trout sundried tomato & caper sauce
- dark chocolate sorbet with Duppy Share Spiced Rum
- lemon sorbet with Branca Menta
The drinks list has also had a summer refresh, with a rotating selection of European and British beers on draught, seasonal cocktails and natural wines – best enjoyed on one of the sun-soaked benches out front.
