The Tooting spot has turned five this year
Chef founders Aaron Webster and Remi Williams bonded over their shared routes into the culinary world and their love of techniques like brining, curing, salting and fermenting, so much that they opened a restaurant together. Smoke & Salt started life as residencies run all over town, then it took over a shipping container in Pop Brixton, and then the pair took on a permanent site in Tooting in 2020.
The neighbourhood restaurant offers fine dining cookery in a relaxed atmosphere with two affordable tasting menus on offer. The six-course £59pp seasonal Craft menu and the seven-course £70pp Culture menu change to reflect the best available produce. For November, you can expect to see dishes like:
- coal-fired beetroot
- ‘everything’ tempura courgette
- kimchi pancake with kewpie
- aged beef sirloin with barbecue turnips and fermented gooseberries
- popcorn with white chocolate and bramble
