Upgrade your lunch with Bánh mì and Vietnamese rice boxes
Bánh Bánh has been serving up pho, curries, salads and other Vietnamese staples in Peckham and Brixton for over ten years, and following the opening of Lai Rai in Peckham this summer, the family is growing again with the addition of Little Bánh Bánh. The new Fleet Street site is centred around cơm văn phòng, which translates to “office rice”, aka quick and satisfying dishes that are ideal for lunch.
The menu at Little Bánh Bánh will feature jasmine rice boxes topped with fresh veggies and the likes of crispy pork belly, prawn patties in tomato sauce, and Vietnamese beef stew. There’ll also be Bánh mì, with fillings like cold cuts, braised ginger chicken and lemongrass tofu with mushroom, on offer alongside phở and bún noodle salads. It wouldn’t be a Vietnamese spot with iced Vietnamese coffees on the menu, with lime and pineapple coconut softies for the non-coffee drinkers.
If you’ve been to any of the other Bánh Bánh spots, you’ll know that design is a real strong point and it’s no different at Little Bánh Bánh. The space is cool and minimalist, with textured glass blocks, tiles, concrete, wood, lime plaster, and hand-painted panels by Tomio Shota, co-founder of the design duo house of baby.
